"Wish List" for the LLLPRD Website

Broken items:

  1. In repairing the "last date modified" feature, the date on most pages was set to 22 Nov 2002.  Look for the symbols and news item dates to see noteworthy changes.

As volunteer time is available, we hope to add or fix the following:

  1. Simplify news page
  2. Resample pictures to be much smaller (faster load time)
  3. Include picture attributes (copyright holder, subject, date)
  4. Add info on pollution control
  5. Add shoreland restoration and erosion control how-tos
  6. Include bulletin board function to support special-interest groups (fishing, bird watching, snorkeling, SCUBA diving, photography, sailing, astronomy, water skiing, etc.)
  7. Add Foundation brochure (PDF) and form for donations
  8. Add info on zoning and building
  9. Add detail about local elected officials such as the Sampson Township board, Chippewa County board of supervisors, zoning, state representatives, congressional representatives, governor, etc.
  10. Add info on loons and other flora and fauna
  11. Add Bloomer High School Adopt-A-Lake info
  12. Add info on phosphorous
  13. Add fishing license info
  14. Add a calendar function (Yahoo?  Google?)???
  15. Publish the lake video in high quality
  16. Write procedures for backup, mailing list maintenance, publishing, DNS maintenance (including expected renewal date and cost), Iserv contact info...
  17. Add a mailing list system???
  18. Determine what goes in an email bulletin vs. web page vs. newsletter and revise the publication guide.
  19. Remove obsolete items from the website.
  20. Improve the organization of items on the website to make things easier to find and navigate, particularly the news page.
  21. We could set up a collaboration area where people can contribute their own thoughts. One option is a blog (where one or a few people post items of interest). Another is a discussion forum where the constituents can post whatever they like. We might have to moderate this to avoid arguments, advertising, etc.
  22. Perhaps set up a new address just for board members (like lllprdboard@lllprd.org) that will not be visible on the website and won't attract spam.
  23. And...locate a 2nd webmaster to share duties.

Many site improvements can be done by the volunteer webmaster, however most require new information to be submitted for publication.  This is where you can help!  Please do a little research and submit articles, documents, or website links on the topics above marked "Add" or other items you would like to see.  Thanks!!
